Why I'm taking Japanese :)
Hello,
My name is Hawa and I'm a second year student at Columbia University majoring in Human Rights and Sustainable Development with a special concentration in Linguistics. I'm currently taking First Year Japanese 1 with Sensei Nishida, and I'm having the most amazing time learning about the Japanese language and culture. Over the past couple of weeks, memorizing the different alphabets has been difficult. However, I've been studying almost everyday with my classmates and I feel like I am getting the hang of it. My mother has traveled to Japan on multiple occasions for business. So, I informed her that the next time she goes, I will go with her and hopefully be able to speak coherently with natives. I'm super excited to gain a deep understanding for both the Japanese language and culture.
